Directions

Driving

There is plenty of parking available at the venue. You are welcome to leave your car there overnight as long as you collect it between 8:00 and 12:00 the next day.

Sat Nav will bring you directly there, but might choose a more rural route.

We recommend coming via the A361, which can be joined from the A40 at Burford to the North or Swindon to the South, though be careful to take the second turn after leaving it (the first goes under the road to Filkins, and catches James out every time).

  1. At Burford Roundabout on the A40 take the A361 towards Lechlade
  2. After approx 6 miles take a right to Barringtons
  3. Ignore the 1st Left turning to Filkins and after a hundred yards take the 2nd Left which is signposted to Oxleaze Farm
  4. Follow the lane for approx 3/4 of a mile and take the farm drive which is signed up to the right.
  5. Follow the signs to Oxleaze Barn through the farm buildings.
  1. Follow the A361 towards Burford for approximately 12 miles, via Lechlade
  2. Past a major junction sign posted R.A.F. Brize Norton take the next left to Barringtons
  3. Ignore the 1st Left turning to Filkins and after a hundred yards take the 2nd Left which is signposted to Oxleaze Farm
  4. Follow the lane for approx 3/4 of a mile and take the farm drive which is signed up to the right.
  5. Follow the signs to Oxleaze Barn through the farm buildings.
  1. Take the M1 to Leicester
  2. At Leicester exit at Junction 21 to the M69 towards Coventry
  3. At the end of the M69 at Coventry follow the A46 Coventry bypass around the city, briefly merging with the A45 before continuing on the A46 towards Warwick
  4. Follow the A46 to and around Warwick, then following signs to M40S/A429
  5. At the M40 roundabout take the 3rd Exit onto the A429 towards Cirencester
  6. Follow the A429 as it becomes part of the Fosse Way (a Roman road) into the Cotswolds through Morton-in-Marsh and Stow on the Wold
  7. Shortly after Stow on the Wold leave the A429 onto the A424 towards Burton
  8. Follow the A424 to Burton, taking the A361 through the town centre to the A40 Roundabout at the other side of the town
  9. At A40 Roundabout take the 3rd exit onto the A361 towards Lechlade
  10. After approx 6 miles take a right towards Barringtons
  11. Ignore the 1st Left turning to Filkins and after a hundred yards take the 2nd Left which is signposted to Oxleaze Farm
  12. Follow the lane for approx 3/4 of a mile and take the farm drive which is signed up to the right.
  13. Follow the signs to Oxleaze Barn through the farm buildings.
  • Take the M40 towards Oxford
  • At Junction 8 take the A40 towards Oxford
  • Follow the A40 towards Cheltenham and Witney
  • Past Witney at the A40 Burford Roundabout turn left onto the A361 towards Lechlade
  • After approx 6 miles take a right towards Barringtons
  • Ignore the 1st Left turning to Filkins and after a hundred yards take the 2nd Left which is signposted to Oxleaze Farm
  • Follow the lane for approx 3/4 of a mile and take the farm drive which is signed up to the right.
  • Follow the signs to Oxleaze Barn through the farm buildings.
 

Taxis

There are a good number of local taxi firms to choose from. We've selected a few to recommend who seem able to provide enough cars if you all book for the same time to head home.

We have been repeatedly recommended to book well in advance for the journey home in the evening, since there are several wedding venues in the area that all kick out around a similar time, and August is prime season.

Charlie's Taxis are a medium size cab company based out of Carterton. They have a variety of cars and mini-buses, and were highly recommended by several of the smaller taxi firms as a ideal choice to move a larger group.

For individual car loads they suggest booking by phone, but for groups that might need multiple cars they recommend email to make sure details don't get misheard.

Trains

 

There are two nearby stations:

  • Swindon Station, 15.5 miles from Oxleaze Barn. Has a Taxi Rank
  • Charlbury Station, 14.9 miles from Oxleaze Barn. No Taxi Rank, need to book.

A number of family members and friends have mentioned that they would be willing to collect people taking the train, so if you let us know nearer to the time we might be able to save you the cost of a taxi.

Friday Night

We've made a provisional booking to eat at The Plough, in the village of Alvescot, at 8pm on Friday 3rd.

Their current menu, Wine and (most importantly) Gin list can be viewed on their website.
